Cascade Park is now a community park without
any rides. Some remains are visible when visiting the park site. There is a rumor
circulating that the park may once again install rides. It is just a rumor though.1 There is still quite a bit remaining at the site. The dance pavilion,
carousel building and refreshment stands are still there as well as the loading station
for the Tumble Bug and the loading station for the train. The pool and picnic shelters
remain as well. While the Comet roller coaster is gone, some of the foundations and
footings are still visible. The steel I beams that supported the Comet still remain. The
Comet was good example of a Gully Coaster.1
The last roller coaster Cascade Park had was called the
comet which was removed when the amusements were shut down. The comet was designed by Paul
Vesco and built by International Amusement Devices (IAD) in 1955. It was reported to be 65
feet high and 2400 feet long. The ride ran through the gullies and valleys in the park. The
ride was literally hidden by the trees which it ran very close to.2
